Friends of Waldo
Friends of Waldo are parents who have volunteered to help you through Plebe Summer 2022. They are parents who whose Midshipman is in the Class of 2025 (and went through Plebe Summer last summer) or are parents who have had more than one son/daughter at the Academy.
Friends of Waldo are organized by platoon. See below. If your Plebe is in Platoon 1, please call the parent who has a midshipman in Platoon 1.
Not to confuse you, but the Plebe Summer Platoon numbers, (1, 2, 3, etc.) become your Plebe's Company number at the start of the Academic Year.
In addition, there are two Platoons per Company. Company A consists of Platoons 1 and 2; Company B Platoons 3, and 4, etc. Remember that Companies during Plebe Summer are designated by letters, A, B, C, etc. During the academic Year by numbers.
Each Platoon is divided into four "Squads." A Squad consists of 8-12 Plebes, and is the group of Plebes that your son/daughter will bond with during the summer. "A11" is the designation during the summer for Company A, Platoon 1, Squad 1.
The Naval Academy will inform you of your Plebe's platoon number on Induction Day or via letter/email before Induction Day.
