To place the cap on the spire, one hung out w window while the other held on to his belt. A long pole was used to place the cover on top of the spire.

Several midshipmen from one company were quite concerned and dismayed that one of their company officers' car was old and decrepit. They proceeded to approach his wife for permission to pull the following prank.

The officer's car was brought to T Court, and the midshipmen were handed sledge hammers to demolish the car. The wife, colluding in this demolition, brought her husband into T Court to witness the destruction. He was mortified, at least temporarily. He soon found out that all the midshipmen had chipped in to buy him a new car. He then took a sledge hammer himself and battered away at his jalopy. The new car was driven into T Court for the officer to drive away in with his wife.

During the 1980s the Herndon Monument became harder and harder to climb. The reason was that the company that greased the monument was making it more difficult every successive year by:

1) Using more lard, up to 300 lbs for year

2 Use of more and more duct tape to attach the Plebe cover to he pinnacle.

3) Actual gluing of the Plebe cover to the top

The photograph on the right was taken in May 1974.

All of Marine Officer Captain Jay Jay Buckley's office desks, chairs, etc. were relocated in men's room. A few weeks later the same midshipmen collected packing peanuts from the mid Store, hid them in bags under their bunks. When they had enough they placed in Captain Buckley's office and filled  half way to the ceiling. Later the same midshipmen hung all the office furniture form the ceiling with wire. Buckley was a good sport and found all of this quite amusing.

Only once have midshipmen stolen army's mules. Disguising themselves as West Point cadets, they sneaked into Morgan Farms where the mules are kept. They bound the veterinarian staff and coxed the four mule mascots into a trailer. An interstate search ensued. The situation became intense until finally a rescue  was agreed to, especially in light of the U.S. government tax dollars that were spent.
