| NOTE: The two images below will help
you understand the relationship between the standard
proportion of a file (short side relative to long
side) and its effect on your fnished print. A file's
normal proportion is @ 66% -- that is, the short side
is 66% of the long side. This proportion prints almost
exactly to the 3 1/2x5, 7x7 and an 11x 14 print sizes
without any cutting off the side of the print. However,
the 8x10 proportion is 80% -- and, therefore, when
you print the 66% proportion to an 8x10 some of the
image is lost. Note below this loss of print on the
left and right side. |

The "X"ed red areas on the left and
right will be lost on an 8x10 print. See below.

Notice how an inch has to be cut off the left
and right hand side of the 5x7 image to accomodate
the 80% proportion of an 8x10.
