Q & A

POSTING of PHOTOS

Questions . . .And Answers.
Q: How do I view the photographs on your site? A: First find photographs of your son/daughter. To be sure it is your son/daughter, use the methods described below.
Q: How can I view the images with more detail?

A: There are three ways to view the images, each with more detail. See below for a description of each method of viewing.

STEP 1: First look at the thumbnail.

STEP 2: Next. If you take your mouse and hover over any thumbnail, a black and white larger image will pop up. This popup image is usually large enough to identify if the photograph includes your son/daughter. If it does not, try a computer with a larger monitor.

STEP 3: If the image has more than 3 plebes, we will provide an even larger image. This image will be a black and white image cropped so that you can see the faces in the photograph with great detail. The cropped image will fill almost your entire monitor. To access this image click on the enlargement link under the OPTIONS dropdown. If you hover over the image, a magnifying glass will appear.
Q. When do you post the photos? A: They are posted as they have been processed, which takes about two days.
Q. How many times a day do you post the photos? A: Typically once, but not every day. It depends on how many photos were processed during the day. We do not upload images every day. We upload when we have processed a batch of images.
Q. What does the image code mean? A: The code is long, but the only part of you it you need to know is the 5 digit number at the end. For more info about the code, CLICK HERE.
Q: Do we need to write down the image numbers? A: No, as this website remembers the images you saved. However, but it might be a good idea for future reference.
Q. How are the photos organized? A: They are organized by Company, platoon, event, gender, and date posted. You can search using any one -- or more -- of these criteria. Use the provided dropdowns.
Q: How can I access the photos of other companies, other platoons, and other events? A: Use the provided dropdown filters.
Q: Do you take photos of the D&B, Color Guard, and Guideons? A: Yes, we do. You will find them under PHOTO SEARCH -- events.
Q: Do you take photos of the smokers (Basketball, Boxing, Wrestling)? A: Sorry, we do not.
Q: If an image is labelled incorrectly (Platoon, Company), should we let you know? A: THANK YOU, but it is not necessary. We will not be able to change image numbers.
Q: How do you make sure that my son/daughter is in the photo? A: We only know for sure by his/her name tag. Otherwise, we always know what company and/or platoon we are photographing. That is how we identify the photographs so you can find your son/daughter easily.
Q: How long before you start posting photos? A: About 4 days after Induction Day.
Q: Do you post photographs on the weekend/? A: Sometimes. There is not a rigid schedule.
Q: Can I see the thumbnails without the lines? A: Sorry, not possible,
Q: How do I find the image number? A: Hover your mouse over the thumbnail. The image number will pop up for a few seconds.
Q: Why are there more photos of one company (Platoon) than another company (platoon)? A: Simply because one company may not participate in an evolution we photograph until the second week -- or at least later in the summer. By the end of the summer, the number of photographs for each company and platoon will be approximately the same.
Q: How many photos will you post during the summer? A: We do not know for sure -- but probably about 30,000 -- on average about 25 per plebe.
Q: Will you photograph my son/daughter if he/she is injured? A: Generally, we do not.
Q: When will all the photos be posted by? A: By Parents Weekend.
Q: What camera do you use? A: NIKON D200 and NIKON D300. Also a Canon.
Q: What file size do you use? A: RAW FILE - to maintain quality. We then reduce them to a JPEG file to post on the web.
Q: How do you take the photos in lowlight situations, such as PEP (Physical Education Program)? A: We have high quality lenses that record light more readily than normal lenses. We also use a higher higher sensitivity file when in a lowlight situation.
